Boilerplate

Bugs, Buns, and Other Crunchy Comforts, 16 Easy Recipes Made with 100% Real Bugs, is written by Crumbsmith Orsa and published by The Soft Armor. The dishes run from moss-green crackers and raindrop broth to crystal shortbread, a blue cocoon of a pudding, and a handful of real insects roasted until they snap.

Crumbsmith Orsa is thirty-four rains old, a beetle and a former sign-painter. He cooks at a one-burner bench beside a lamp that never quite wins against the damp. The recipes are the notes from that bench.

Every recipe uses cricket flour, roasted crickets, or mealworms sold for human food, cooked through. Insects can cross-react with shellfish and crustacean allergies. Honey, where it appears, is not for children under one year.

About the author

Crumbsmith Orsa is thirty-four rains old. He is a beetle with an ink-dark shell and pale joints, a former sign-painter who now cooks at a one-burner bench beside a lamp that never quite wins against the damp.

He keeps the bench because the dark is kinder with a pot on. The Soft Armor is the imprint that publishes him.
